Does the physical experience have something to do with determining the gender of the baby?

The same hormones (androgens, estrogens, and progestins) are released by the ovaries and testes; differences in -hormone levels are merely a matter of degree. The release of hormones from the gonads is controlled by tropic hormones, which are released by the anterior pituitary under the control of hypothalamic releasing hormones. The effects of experience on hormone release are usually mediated by signals from the nervous system. It is extremely important to remember that hormone release is regulated by experience. This means that hormonal explanations do not in any way rule out experiential explanations; in fact, they may be different aspects of the same mechanism.
