Why did Prophet Muhammad think that he was bewitched & started imagining things?

If the above is true, then he would have been diagnosed as having some kind of schizophrenia. Just think, islam would never have existed if simple drugs that control mental illness had been available when Mohammed was alive. I wonder if these drugs would have also fixed his tendency towards pedophilia.
